Amish Opt-Out on Socialist Healthcare?

Amish Opt-Out on Socialist Healthcare?

So there are whisperings about of a so-called Amish Opt-Out on Obamacare.  This “religious conscience” exemption supposedly protects people of certain religious beliefs and apparently goes so far as to specify which religions can opt-out.

Now I’m all for Amish-ness…  I think what they are doing is great, because it is part of the beauty of America.  We are all free to do and worship as we please.  And even if I didn’t agree with Amishdom, its not like they are going to do anything to respond to my electrically-powered cyberspace disapproval anyhow.  However this exemption gets us into some very ugly territory on the whole constitutionality grounds.

We first must keep in mind that the Obamacare bill itself is unconstitutional in multiple  aspects.  However this particular religious conscience issue could grow into a mean animal.  After all, if I myself claim to be Amish, who is the government to say I’m not?  Perhaps I say I am a liberal Amish, who joined the extreme left-wing of the Amish faith because of my disapproval of government health care.  Can Obama classify me as non-Amish?  Are they allowed to classify the faith or religion of any individual?  Or are we who we say we are when it comes to religious beliefs? Why does the government think the Amish religion can be exempt but not he Buddhist, Christian or Muslim religion?  Please explain to me the difference.

This issue could create some very serious problems for Obamacare if the liberal-media doesn’t succeed in snubbing it out all together.  It could also increase a mass-exodus to the extreme left-wing of the Amish faith.  I.E. people like myself- a new Amish convert who believes in the general symbolic concept of avoiding a complex way of life, but chooses to do the whole, electricty, internet, makeup, dancing, driving a car thing.  What can I say, I’m a very open minded Amishman.  Try and tell me I’m not Obama.  I dare you.
