For a long term I have heard phrases relating in some way or another to the value of life and the lack of time we have here on Earth.
One such phrase however, has finally struck a chord with me. “Life is too short to drink cheap beer.”
As I grow older, I find myself actually experiencing and considering the inevitable. Old friends from school are passing away, I have but one grandparent left, friend’s parents are sick, and on it goes.
And so, with all things considered, I am discontinuing my regular consumption of cheap beer. The pursuit of light, bubbly, watered-down, unsavory, not-so-goodness has become fruitless and ‘hopless.’
In a world that has become linked-in and sped up in every way, why not spend the extra couple bucks, drink a little less, and really take the time to enjoy life.. and enjoy a full-bodied, hand-crafted beer?
Instead of coming home and cracking that keystone light and turning on ESPN, try something different. Slow- pour yourself a hearty brew into your favorite, meticulously maintained mug and sit in silence for a bit. Perhaps read a leather-bound book while breathing in the rich smell of mahogany. Savor the moment!
Always remember, it is inevitable that at some point or another, knowingly or unknowingly, we will drink the last beer of our lifetime. Shouldn’t it be worth it?
