Well, I find myself at the crossroads of the healthcare debacle. There is much debate, and much opinion. I however, think that if we are going to have a discussion about this, we better know what we are talking about. This is, of course a chance to be better informed than most of the Congress and the Senate, and to all appearances, beloved leader.
Here is a link to the healthcare bill. All 1018 pages of it. Don’t make me read it by myself.
In another frightening display of the Beloved Leader’s struggle to bury the constitution, it has been recently revealed that Cass Sunstein- Obama’s nominee for “regulatory czar,” is an animal rights extremist with an ultra-leftist agenda. Sunstein, a “legal scholar” has been nominated to head the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs branch of the Office of Budget and Management.
In one of Sunstein’s greatest notable quoteables, he has stated that animals should have the ability to file lawsuits “with human beings as their representatives.”
As for Sunstein’s views on other matters, this is a guy who also said “we should celebrate tax day.” Need we any more evidence?
Thankfully, in an effort to call attention to the matter, Senators John Cornyn and Saxby Chambliss have placed holds on Sunstein’s nomination. The purpose- to have a record come the day when Sunstein is nominated to the Supreme Court of the United States of America. Thats right- Cass Sunstein is considered a possible Obama-nominee for the high court.
Here is a link to a story about people undercutting the upcoming EU ban on incandescent lights. These are people on a progressive continent, rampant with social engineering, unreal tax rates, very nearly green till it hurts, and they are drawing a line in the sand. Over light bulbs.
These people don’t want CFL’s. At all. And they are buying regular old light bulbs at a record pace. Why? Because they don’t like them, They don’t like the light produced by them, and maybe, just maybe this will be the thing that unites them to make the statement: “This far, and no further!”
The practitioners of the new religion, Global Warming have been pushing this for years. Their success was capped in the US in 2007 by the incremental banning of incandescent bulbs starting in 2012. Read about it here. Now we all know the perceived advantages, energy savings, longer life of the bulbs, etc. On the down side there is added expense, disposal problems, and product results not living up to claims.
I believe that there is a more resonant reason why the sides are so divided on the question though. The lines pro and con are almost neatly cleaved along age. While the start of the idea was clearly brought about by the leftovers of the 60’s and 70’s, the implementation of the “green agenda” in our schools has brought about the change where a ridiculous idea such as this has taken root, and the cowards in Washington, fearing their power may be eroded, played along.
Old guys like me have spent most of our working lives toiling under the harsh glare of fluorescent lights, and at the end of the day a return to home and hearth, without the harshness of the tubes is welcome relief. But rather than having the choice to light our homes the way we see fit, and to patronise the manufacturers of the products we choose, it has been decreed that we will knuckle under to the green god, and use CFL’s.
To them, I have but one thing to say, and one gesture to give. The gesture, consists of making a fist and when done, extending the middle finger in an universally recoqnised expression of disdain and rebellion. To those who intrude upon my way of life and light, I say “Piss off wanker, you do not decide how I will light my home and spend my money, I do”
This is not just a question of energy saving, or being kind to “your mother, the earth”. This is the question of control over your life. Your ability to engage in commerce as you see fit, and to make decisions about your life are being taken away from you. And not just you, but those who follow you as well. While we may feel impotent to change the matters in DC (but the writing is starting to appear on the wall that beloved leader’s sway over the masses is beginning to fade). The choice of how you spend your money to light your home is entirely immediate, and under your control. It is a way to take back your power. When done with the proper aplomb, empowers you to realise that what we see around us does not have to be the way it is now. Each of us taking back a little power from “the man” leads us to the next thing we can do to re-establish our God-given freedoms.
Write that letter, attend the tea parties, sign the healthcare petitions, write a blog, and most important, engage those who would strip you of your freedom. Be informed, counter the politics of “feelings” with logic and reason. There is nothing more satisfying shutting down a whiny “earth-firster” by showing them the fallacy of their arguments. Hearts are not changed in a noisy shouting match, they are changed in the calm light of reason.
Go out and have some fun. And if you need an incandescent bulb, give me a call. I have a lifetime supply already, and I add to it on a regular basis.
Rasmussen reports today that for the first time in his presidency, Mr. Obama has fallen below the 50% approval mark.
In order for this type of decline to take place at this rate, one must assume that his radical socialist policies are finally starting to open some eyes. Even through the haze of media protectionism, there are simple principles at play, and its quite clear that a majority of Americans don’t agree with them.
As the political representatives of a democratic system, it is the responsibility of our political elects to heed the will of the people and stop this unprecedented big government takeover.

Currently watching the news conference where Beloved Leader is being soundly spanked by the Cambridge Police Assn., Mass. Police Assn., the cops union, etc.
Sgt. Crowley is being stood behind by all the big names in Mass. law enforcement, and in no uncertain terms either.
A great day for Sgt. Crowley, and a substantial snub for the arrogance of the victim mentality, and it’s promoters.
Way to show some backbone Mass. PD Unions!!!
Good times, man. Good times.
Last night, 24.7 million Americans watched an attempted grammar-school lesson on the government health invasion. Unfortunately for us, 24.7 million Americans wasted their time.
Promised a better health care system with universal coverage of the American population, more money in their paychecks at the end of the week, and a higher quality of living- too many people turned off their televisions without having a single dose of objectivity.
There are some very simple concepts at work here. In order to cover 50 million Americans who are not currently covered- this is going to take a large sum of money and a large sum of discretion and regulation over America’s second largest industry. If you are covered now, you will suffer. The law of supply and demand alone tells us that you will face a much larger demand for your health services, but the supply will begin to wilt away. In order to make up for this, the government will attempt to cut costs by consolidating health records, reducing the amount of elective procedures available and target individuals that fit into troublesome health categories- enacting different action courses for different age, gender, race and cultural groups.
Think about your health records- the tests, the questions, the procedures, the vaccinations, the prescriptions . . . These will become government property. They will be used to eliminate your ability to pass judgment onto your own health care- instead passing it off to a more ‘qualified’ party. IE- non-elected politicians sitting on Washington Health boards.
Think about your grandparents. An estimated 25% of the average American’s health care costs are acquired in their last year of life. The government will be looking out for their own best interests in cutting these costs. The first cuts will be leveled on the elderly. After all, what logical place in line does an 82 year old man needing a hip replacement over a 43 year old man? Think this sounds far-fetched? Well, at last check, Canadian cancer patients fatality rate was 16% higher than Americans.
Think about your children. Mandatory vaccinations and health regiments will allow the government to play parent in the fight against childhood obesity.
Think about your employer- they will be paying a new tax on your benefits.
Think about research and development. It has already been made clear to us that prescription drug companies are the bad guys in this deal. Well, with lower income and higher regulation, where is their incentive and competitive hiring power against other industries in the fight to develop life-saving drugs?
For the love of freedom, JUST THINK!
Nice, beloved leader called an entire police force “stupid”. On national TV, no less.
What a dick. With no discernable information, and completely ignoring the fact that there had been an attempted break-in at that address recently, beloved leader decided that the Cambridge PD had “acted stupidly”.
You know what? If I lose my keys and am trying to break into my own house and the cops came, I would be more concerned about looking like an idiot who lost his keys, rather than calling cops racists, and yelling at them.
This guy got all he had coming to him, and the sad thing is he will get undeserved attention from it all.
As far as beloved leader goes, this is just another example of unrestrained ego, and the arrogance of the victim mentality.
